Endless Summer

We laughed and played through the summer months, with no care in the world for what we did, who we did it with and bedtime. Mum didn’t move and dad was gone. It had it’s downsides, we had to cook and clean. We had an endless summer. George used to take me to the lake. We both liked the lake because it was cool on a hot day. We swam naked of course, that was why it was just me and George. I suppose people asked questions and judged my mother, but she probably didn’t care. She had slipped seamlessly into a blissful oblivion. No one could disturb her now. A debate was raised every now and then as to whether we should tell, but to be honest we liked what we had.
